Shop and Eat at Home

Super One (less than 5 min from house) a nice local grocery store with a good selection and great liquor prices..

Wal Mart (10 minutes from house) large selection of just about everything you need and usually open an hour later than Super One.

Eat Out (check back we update frequently)

  • Suffolk Street Eatery ( less than 5 minutes from house, located downtown Ironwood) Bistro style food, vegetarian options, delicious check their FB page for hours though.
  • Cute coffeeshop with an outdoor eating area you can bring your pooch too - Contrast Coffee
  • Love LOVE love Copper Cup. It's a drive thru literally two minutes  from the house!
  • Don and GG's is owned by two Detroit girls and is great food and great company! Close to the house too! Their website is a FB page. Their address is 1300 E Cloverland, Ironwood

PLAY

Downtown Ironwood (always updating)

  • Fun splashpad, grassy area and outdoor music in the summer - Downtown City Square
  • Cool wall butterfly mural for picture 
  • Miners Park for snowshoeing and hiking - 165 acres, great trails, easy to follow
  • Great wine bar and  bottle shop  - White Rabbit Wine Bar vibe is friendly upscale yooper (if ya know ya know)
  • Cold Iron Brewing is a great brewery. Bring in your own food, bring the kids, even bring in the dogs! I would bring something for them to lay on in the winter, the concrete floors are cold in the winter.
  • Ben Franklin - cutest, biggest most perfect store for all your tourist and local gifts

ADVENTURE

Winter (under development)

  • Skiing is top of the list of course
    • Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort - 15 minutes from house, usually quick lines.
    • Mt. Zion Ski Hill - really close to the house, ran by the local community college, their FB page is most accurate. They also have tubing on weekends - check their FB page first!
    • Snow River Mountain Resort
      • They have two hills as part of their resort Jackson  Creek Summit and Black River Basin

Spring

  • Water falls are the best - check out the Black River Scenic byway for 5 waterfalls!

Summer

  • The Iron Belle bike paths are great in the summer.
  • Hike the waterfalls
  • Paddle board Lake Superior (never alone, it's not like a lake it's more like a beautiful but angry ocean)
  • Rock hunting on the shores of Lake Superior are the best in the summer!
  • Hike Miners Park - great trails and a cool little pond

Fall

  • Do a Fall Color tour! Check out  uptravel for a great map of a loop that starts and ends in Ironwood. 
  • Check out Copper Peak for a great view ($$).
  • Check out Mt. Zion scenic overlook for free - it's right around the corner from the house!
